Xiabaishan Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is 1.5 km northeast of 996 highland southeast of Kawabulaktag (91°36′05″E, 41°22′25″N), Shanshan County, Xinjiang. The Xiabaishan Fm was named in 1979 and published in 1990 by Xiao Bing.
Synonym: (下白山组）
Lithology and Thickness
The formation is represented by a sequence of calcareous siltstone and siliceous siltstone intercalated with limestone. In the type area, the Xiabaishan Fm is 513 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It rests conformably on the purple-gray calcareous shale of the Xiangguletag Fm
Upper contact
It is conformably overlain by the thin-bedded marl at the base of the Shangbaishan Fm
Regional extent
This stratigraphic unit is exposed in Kawabulak.

Fossils
Graptolites Pseudoclimacograptus sp., Climacograptus bicornis and trilobite Asaphus have been found from the strata equivalent to the Xiabaishan Fm near the type area.
